Hotel and Conference Centre “Becoming
an individual: a psychoanalytic journey with a schizoid-deprived
patient” The Western
Branch Canadian Psychoanalytic Society is pleased to present its Annual
Scientific Meeting to interested clinicians. This year’s conference: “Becoming an individual: a
psychoanalytic journey with a schizoid-deprived patient”, Dr. Franco Borgogno will discuss how
“the analyst’s unconscious emotional response serves as both a
tool for comprehension and a key element of environmental facilitation - a
“new beginning, that may help the patient attain a level of development
and emancipation that he or she has never experienced before.” Through
the presentation of case material Dr. Borgogno will discuss how the
analyst’s willingness to emotionally and mentally participate in the
experiences of the patient may, “make it possible to meet and
understand the patient”. Dr. Franco Borgogno, is
Full Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Psychology Faculty of Turin
University (Italy); Full Member of the International Psychoanalytical
Association and Training and Supervising Analyst of the Sociteta
Psiconalitica Italiana. Learning
Objectives: 1. To
develop an understanding of the utility of the analysts unconscious emotional
response in analysis. 2. To
become aware of the clinical usefulness for the analysand’s experience
of the analyst’s spontaneity. 3.
To
consider the utility of the enactment of past traumas in the here and now and
in the “long wave” of an analysis.
